Can the kitchen handle allergies?

Yes. Tell us when you book and remind your server on the night. Allergen preparation is done on separate boards, and the chef will come out and talk it through if that helps.

Is there much for vegetarians and vegans?

Both menus carry vegetarian dishes as standard, and most can be made vegan. We would rather cook you something properly than hand over a plate of sides.

Do you cater for children?

Always. Highchairs are on hand, and the kitchen is happy to plate a smaller portion of anything on the menu rather than keep a separate children's list.

How long is a gift card valid?

Three years from the date of purchase. The expiry is printed on the card and repeated in the email.

Can a gift card be used against a function or catering bill?

Accepted Answer

Yes — against any bill at the pub, including deposits on functions. Mention it when the invoice is raised so it is applied before payment.

Can I order food to take away?

Yes, order online and choose a pickup time. The kitchen sets the earliest slot from current prep times, so what you see offered is genuinely achievable.

What if I order outside trading hours?

Nothing is turned away. An order placed after close is scheduled for the next service and you will see the collection time before you pay.

Do you do Sunday roast?

Every Sunday from midday until it runs out, which it does. Book if you want to be certain of a plate.

Which payment methods do you take?

All major cards, and contactless. Card surcharges, where they apply, are shown on the bill before you pay.

Happily, by item or evenly. For very large groups we ask for one payment on the night and settle the split between yourselves.

Is a deposit required to book?

Not for a standard table. Functions and the cellar vault take a deposit to hold the space, which comes off the final bill.

What do you do with my booking details?

We use them to run your booking and to contact you about it. We do not sell them. Marketing email only goes out if you have opted in, and every message carries an unsubscribe link.

Do I need to book, or can I just turn up?

The bar takes walk-ins whenever we are open. For the dining hall, and for any Friday or Saturday night, book ahead — the room fills early once the fire is lit.

How far ahead can I book?

Standard tables open a fortnight ahead. For a function, a long-table lunch or the cellar vault, talk to us further out and we will hold the date.

What happens if I am running late?

Call the pub. We hold a table fifteen minutes past the booking, and longer if we know you are on the road — the drive up can be slow in bad weather.

Can I bring a large group?

Groups up to eight book as a normal table. Beyond that, send a function enquiry and our coordinator will put together a set menu and a space to match.
